About Pamela

Pamela Smith has been a professional licensed massage therapist for 20 wonderful years!  It is the best job in the world!

After graduating from Mount Holyoke College, and working for years as an editor and writer at places like MIT and DEC, she heard an inner voice calling to her about massage and singing, and decided to follow where it led.  It led to the Stillpoint Center School of Massage (in Hatfield; now part of Greenfield Community College), which ran a program that honored the spiritual and emotional dimensions of massage as well as the physical.   She learned there to give massages with kindness and intelligence, and from a place of health within herself.  She is grateful to have found instructors who cared deeply about excellence of body, mind, and spirit.

Pamela studied Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, sports massage, Polarity Therapy, BMC philosophy, anatomy & physiology, meditation, and functional kineseology at Stillpoint.  She also studied shiatsu and 5-element theory at the New England Shiatsu Institute, in the early 1980s, taught by instructors trained by Michio Kushi at the Kushi Institute.  She has taken coursework since then in craniosacral therapy (Upledger Institute), the Self-Healing Technique (Meir Schneider), Breema (Kate Becker), and for 7 years was the massage therapist for Debra Waldron, who founded the Stillpoint Center School of Massage in 1981 and originated the Stillpoint Massage.

Pamela has extensive experience working with chronic pain and illness (such as MS, fibromyalgia, unstable SI joints, arthritis, migraines), and guiding clients through short-term medical issues (such as intensive cancer treatments, hip and knee replacements, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, headaches).  She has worked with survivors of abuse, and feels privileged to be able to provide a reliably safe and trusted space for healing touch.
Pam Smith

Besides her innate "good hands," Pamela has a gift for listening deeply, asking questions that help identify new directions, understanding, and connections, and being a partner in creating a healthy life on all levels.  We are all seekers and we all have wisdom -- bodywork can be a delightful starting point for discoveries without and within!

Pamela is licensed as a massage therapist in the state of Massachusetts, is a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), and is fully insured.
